About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Wichita is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. This is a per-diem, as-needed role with 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Wichita, Kansas. Compensation is $38.00 per hour, based on experience. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and the role may offer a path to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) based on reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma (preferred), or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS certification upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
