About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides compassionate respiratory care to chronic, critically ill patients receiving extended healing and recovery services after intensive care. The role supports patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions in an inpatient critical illness recovery hospital. This is a per-diem/PRN day position in Lake Worth, Florida, with compensation of $42 per hour and a $2,500 sign-on bonus. Night and/or weekend shifts carry a shift differential. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and notes that strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) eligibility after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or a state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma is preferred, or high school transcript or diploma or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Hold ACLS certification upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• A college transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
