About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions, including evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans. This position is in Des Moines, Iowa, and is a full-time, 12-hour night-shift role on a single floor, with no need to float to another floor. Compensation is $31.96–$43.00 per hour, plus shift differentials, and the position includes a $15,000 sign-on bonus. A day-shift option is also available. The hospital offers an extensive respiratory therapist orientation program, career development through tuition reimbursement, continuing education, and a clinical ladder program, as well as a student debt benefit program. Requirements

Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma (preferred), or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
Have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
Hold current state licensure.
Obtain ACLS within six months of hire. Agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS before their first shift; PRN staff must have ACLS upon hire.

Nice To Haves

One year of related experience is preferred.
College transcript or diploma as proof of graduation is preferred.

Responsibilities

Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
