As requested by clinical staff, the Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services to optimize pulmonary function and symptom control for patients. In addition to the Respiratory Therapist responsibilities, the Respiratory Therapist Preceptor plans, coordinates and carries out educational opportunities for new Respiratory Therapists. S/he orients the Respiratory Therapists to their role within the interdisciplinary team; evaluates job performance using competency checklist to ensure each new Respiratory Therapist has successfully acquired knowledge and skills essential to providing patient care.
