About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions at a critical illness recovery hospital serving patients who need extended healing and recovery after intensive care. The role includes evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, performing airway procedures, supporting quality improvement, and teaching and counseling patients and families. This is a per diem/PRN, as-needed day-shift position in Gulfport, Mississippi, paying $41.00 per hour. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and notes that the role may offer a path to future full-time opportunities.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma is preferred; high school transcript or diploma or GED is also accepted.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS certification upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma as proof of graduation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.

• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
