About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Charleston is seeking a per diem/PRN Respiratory Therapist to provide inpatient post-ICU care to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate treatment to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. Day and night shifts are available. Compensation is $35.00 per hour, with weekend shift differentials, and a $5,000 sign-on bonus. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and the potential for advancement to a full-time opportunity. Part-time and per-diem employees may be eligible for 401(k) benefits after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or a state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma preferred, or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Hold ACLS certification upon hire; agency Respiratory Therapists must have ACLS before their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
