About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to critically ill patients in a critical illness recovery hospital delivering inpatient post-ICU services. The role supports patients with chronic, critical, and complex medical and surgical conditions throughout their healing and recovery. This is a per-diem/PRN, as-needed day-shift position in Gulfport, Mississippi, paying $41.00 per hour.

The hospital provides an extensive orientation program. Per-diem employees may be eligible for 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year. Strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities.

Requirements

• Hold an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma (preferred), or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
