About The Position

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join their Critical Care team. TMH is a leading healthcare system in North Florida and South Georgia, offering advanced care and serving as a career destination. The Respiratory Care team is integral to patient experience, providing advanced respiratory therapies across various life stages. This role involves administering general respiratory care modalities, operating independently in adult intensive care areas, and functioning as a Code Captain. The position emphasizes continuing education to develop assessment skills, communication, and knowledge in Pediatric, Neonatal, and Critical Care. The therapist will also be competent to perform duties of a shift lead and alternate shift lead, collaborate with the care team, and provide on-call staffing. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
  • Must possess & maintain licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with the State of Florida Department of Health and the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Possess Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) AND Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP) preferred-must be obtained within 90 days of start.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years experience as an RRT practicing in a Neonatal, Pediatric or Adult patient population.
  • Validation of competencies for a Respiratory Therapist Critical Care.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP)

Responsibilities

  • Administer general respiratory care modalities in accordance with department and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Operate independently in all adult intensive care areas.
  • Function as a Code Captain in at least one patient population: Adult, Pediatric or Neonatal.
  • Develop and broaden assessment skills, communication skills and knowledge base within these areas while preparing for the next level of respiratory therapy in Pediatric, Neonatal and Critical Care.
  • Be competent to perform all duties and responsibilities of a shift lead and function as an alternate shift lead therapist.
  • Collaborate with multiple members of a patient's care team, including the implementation and monitoring of all therapeutic modalities per physicians' orders.
  • Provide on call staffing for department needs.
