About The Position

Northwestern Medical Center is recruiting a full-time Respiratory Therapist for a night-shift position from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., including every other weekend. The Respiratory Therapist provides therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory procedures under the direction of a provider or according to protocols. The role requires adapting to technical advances and learning to use new equipment and procedures. The therapist provides age-appropriate care to patients across the lifespan, from neonates to older adults. The position reports to the Respiratory Therapy Manager and involves working with patients and families, physicians, the public, students, and hospital employees. The department uses a range of respiratory, monitoring, testing, and related medical equipment. Work involves exposure to blood-borne disease and infectious respiratory organisms; special-care areas may be demanding and stressful. Because of department staffing needs, extra hours may be assigned on short notice. Required protective equipment includes lab coats, masks, face and eye protection, gloves, and aprons. The hourly hiring range is $30.89 to $43.16, plus shift differentials. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for experienced respiratory therapists. The employer describes a generous benefits package but does not specify individual benefits in the posting.
