About The Position

City of Hope is hiring a PRN Respiratory Therapist for night shifts. The role performs respiratory therapies and procedures, manages ventilators and respiratory equipment, and supports safe, accurate patient care. The therapist may also help train new or temporary Respiratory Therapists and perform department clerical work. The schedule consists of 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a requirement to work at least three shifts per six-week schedule period. Additional shifts may be available based on department needs.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Current Illinois Respiratory Therapist license.
• CPR certification.
• Strong background in bedside patient care.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice To Haves

• ACLS certification.
• National certification (RRT).
• At least three years of critical care/ICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapies, ventilator management, EKGs, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function tests, and special procedures as directed by a Pulmonologist and Nursing Manager.
• Operate and manage respiratory equipment and supplies to ensure safe and accurate patient care.
• Perform and assist with training new or temporary Respiratory Therapists within the scope of practice and experience.
• Perform clerical duties, including chart data entry, entering department charges, filing documents, and other assigned tasks.
