About The Position

Specializes in the application of scientific knowledge and theory to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. Assumes primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities specific to his or her clinical area, including responsibility involved in supervision of students enrolled in respiratory care programs. The Respiratory Therapist may be required to exercise considerable independent clinical judgement in the respiratory care of patients under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a CoARC accredited program in respiratory care with an Associate's Degree required.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
  • Licensed by the State of New York.
  • BLS/ACLS/NRP/CPR Certification within orientation period.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities specific to his or her clinical area.
  • Supervises students enrolled in respiratory care programs.
  • Exercises independent clinical judgement in the respiratory care of patients under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician.
  • Participates in orientation and continuing education as mandated by the State of New York.
  • Updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of practice expertise.
  • Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.
