About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist works with physicians, nurses, and other health team members to deliver medication, promote bronchial hygiene, manage mechanical ventilators, and monitor patients’ oxygenation status. The role requires providing care appropriate to each patient’s age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs, while following hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The position is based at the Sumter Campus in Americus, Georgia, and is listed as a full-time first-shift role.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• 1–2 years of respiratory therapy experience in a healthcare environment.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certifications/licensures.
• Organizational, communication, interpersonal, customer relations, analytical, mechanical, basic computer, and general clerical skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.
• Near-normal vision, including near and far clarity and ability to distinguish colors.
• Good manual dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks and motions.

Responsibilities

• Provide care based on patients’ age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
• Follow hospital and departmental attendance, punctuality, policy, and procedure requirements.
• Maintain current knowledge in areas of responsibility through self-education and ongoing educational programs.
• Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in-services, requirements, and competency evaluations on time.
• Wear protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
• Complete other duties and job functions as required.
