About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to critically ill patients at a critical illness recovery hospital delivering inpatient post-ICU services. The role evaluates patients, recommends treatment plans, and provides care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. The position is per diem/PRN, as needed, with 12-hour day shifts at Select Specialty Hospital Southeast OH in Newark, Ohio. Compensation is $45.00 per hour, with a $7,500 sign-on bonus. Extensive orientation is provided, and the role may offer a pathway to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) participation after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year, and are offered an employee assistance program.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript/diploma is preferred, or high school transcript/diploma or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Hold ACLS certification upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS before their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma as proof of graduation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
