About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT), also identified as Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II), delivers respiratory therapy treatments and pulmonary diagnostic services in an acute care setting. The role includes assessing patients, developing treatment plans, and implementing respiratory care across all patient populations. The position is full-time, non-exempt, and based in Des Plaines, Illinois, working a night schedule of 36 hours per week (three 12-hour shifts). The role offers a stated salary range of $1,323–$1,917 per week, equivalent to $36.77–$53.26 per hour. Relocation assistance is available for candidates relocating from outside Illinois, and a sign-on or relocation bonus may be available to qualified candidates, subject to eligibility and payout terms.

Requirements

• State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate required upon hire and must be maintained.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
• ACLS certificate required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
• PALS certificate required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience as an RCP preferred.
• NRP certificate preferred.
• Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy treatments, including oxygen, aerosol, and airway management.
• Manage ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow oxygen systems.
• Perform pulmonary diagnostics, including ABGs and PFTs.
• Implement patient-specific respiratory care plans.
• Document care in the EMR.
• Respond to code blue and rapid response events.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient outcomes.
• May serve as Lead RCP during assigned shifts.
