About The Position
This is a Per Diem Respiratory Therapist position, Level 2, for Day shifts at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. The per diem commitment requires 73-110 hours per 6-week schedule. Shifts will vary Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm. One weekend and one holiday shift are required during each 6-week period, with holidays scheduled on an A/B rotation.
Requirements
- Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or proof of registry eligible status, required.
- State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure required within 6 months of employment.
- Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association, required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 24 months of employment.
Responsibilities
- Assists Physicians, as requested with Respiratory Therapy procedures
- Provide respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as ordered by physicians according hospital policy and procedures
- Assess patients to determine most suitable method of administering treatment
- Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe verbal or phone order by physicians
- Communicate to patient and family the treatment being performed in a clear manner
- Monitor patient physiological response to therapy with special attention to the pediatric and neonatal patients
- Provide patient and staff education
