About The Position

This is a Per Diem Respiratory Therapist RRT position at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL. The hours are based on department needs and will vary Monday-Friday with rotating weekends and holidays. The role involves assisting physicians with respiratory therapy procedures, providing therapy to patients of all age groups, assessing patients to determine the most suitable treatment, documenting activities, communicating treatments to patients and families, monitoring patient responses to therapy, and providing patient and staff education.

Requirements

Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), required.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or proof of registry eligible status, required.
State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure required within 6 months of employment.
Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association, required.
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 24 months of employment

Responsibilities

Assists Physicians, as requested with Respiratory Therapy procedures
Provide respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as ordered by physicians according hospital policy and procedures
Assess patients to determine most suitable method of administering treatment
Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe verbal or phone order by physicians
Communicate to patient and family the treatment being performed in a clear manner
Monitor patient physiological response to therapy with special attention to the pediatric and neonatal patients
Provide patient and staff education
