About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. This is a per-diem position in Evansville, Indiana, with day and night shifts available. Compensation is $40.00 per hour, with shift differentials for nights and weekends, and a $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

The hospital provides an extensive orientation program. Per-diem employees may have the opportunity to pursue full-time positions. Part-time and per-diem employees are eligible for a 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Must possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Proof of graduation is required: college transcript or diploma (preferred), or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Current state licensure is required.
• ACLS is required upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
