About The Position

Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) are highly skilled healthcare professionals who have specialized medical expertise, knowledge, and skills to provide quality care to patients (neonatal to adult) with respiratory or cardiorespiratory-related illnesses. Respiratory therapists work in all care areas and are heavily relied upon by physicians and allied health professionals to provide advanced life-sustaining treatments in a family-centered approach.

Requirements

Registered, or eligible to be registered with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Respiratory Therapy (NSRRT).
Successfully completed a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) program.
Graduated from a Respiratory Therapist program.
NRP, PALS, and ACLS required within the last 12 months or currently enrolled.
Demonstrated clinical and technical competence in a Neonatal/Pediatric/Adult setting.
Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently.
Demonstrated competence in communication, interpersonal relations, problem-solving, computer applications, and innovation.
Demonstrated ability to keep current in therapeutic and technological advances in respiratory care.

Competencies in other languages are an asset.
