About The Position

Under the general direction of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist renders highly professional and technical care to patients requiring specialized respiratory care interventions. He/She collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team in the delivery of healthcare services to a specific patient population. The Respiratory Therapist assesses patient needs, develops/contributes to plan of care, implements, and evaluates effectiveness of the respiratory regimens in accordance with the patient’s needs and documents such in the medical record. Care is based on age appropriate knowledge, hospital, nursing, and Respiratory Care policies/procedures and professional standards. The Respiratory Therapist effectively communicates fundamental patient/family information to health care team members and solicits feedback from other members of the healthcare team. Identifies and considers physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs in an effort to promote dignity and healing.

Requirements

  • Must have recent and extensive experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Must be able to work two-12 hour shifts per 1 month's schedule with one shift being on the weekend.
  • Completion of AART accredited school of Respiratory Care. AS degree.
  • Current NYS License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • CPR and ACLS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
  • Computer literacy

Nice To Haves

  • RPFT preferred
  • Two to three years experience in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record
