About The Position

Sentara Health is recruiting Registered Respiratory Therapists to work at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, a 525-bed academic medical center and the region’s only Level I trauma center, in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. This is a full-time, day-shift role. Respiratory therapists collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other colleagues using RT-driven protocols to provide patient care across high-acuity, specialized units, including nine ICUs. The role offers exposure to advanced practices such as esophageal balloon-guided ventilation, lung-protective and other advanced ventilator strategies, and respiratory-driven protocols that may include APRV and Volumetric Diffusive Respiration. A residency program supports new hires by teaching both clinical tasks and the underlying science. The department encourages therapists to be proactive, think creatively, and ask questions, and offers self-scheduling to help support work-life balance. Qualified full-time candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $20,000; qualified part-time candidates may be eligible for up to $10,000. Relocation, moving, and housing allowances may be available to candidates outside the geographic area. The full-time base pay range is $37.61–$55.27 per hour. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonuses, subject to applicable conditions. Sentara offers a comprehensive benefits package.
