About The Position

Assesses patient's respiratory status, applies and evaluates appropriate therapy, and performs all respiratory therapy procedures for patients according to medical prescription and departmental policies, procedures and protocols. The role involves instructing/teaching patients about their prescribed therapy, operating, cleaning, and maintaining electrical, pneumatic, and manual equipment used for diagnosis and treatment of respiratory care patients. Additionally, the position requires sharing patient care information with nursing, physicians, and others involved in patient care, and assisting with department research associated with quality assurance and performance improvement efforts.

Requirements

• Current Oregon Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC).
• BLS required.
• ACLS & PALS required within 3 months of hire; NRP required within 6 months of hire.
• At least 18 months of clinical practice in a hospital setting, either as an RCP or as a participant in clinical training as part of a respiratory care program.
• Knowledge of theory and application of all diagnostic and therapeutic modes of respiratory care.
