About The Position

Cayuga Health is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory therapy services in all patient care areas at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York. The therapist works onsite on a full-time overnight schedule of three 12-hour shifts and may be expected to travel locally 0%–10% of the time. The position requires proficiency in mechanical ventilation, NIPPV, patient assessment, tracheostomy care, high-flow oxygen therapy, airway stabilization and maintenance, patient education, ABG acquisition, and outpatient respiratory procedures. The therapist responds promptly to changes in patient condition, communicates with nursing staff and providers, documents care accurately and on time, and participates in treatment planning and multidisciplinary rounds. Requirements

Education: RRT.
Active New York Respiratory Therapist License.
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
Able to stand for long periods; requires manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
Able to perform light lifting up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Perform respiratory therapy duties in all patient care areas.

Respond quickly and communicate with nursing staff and providers regarding changes in patient condition.
Complete timely and accurate documentation.
Participate actively in patient treatment planning and multidisciplinary team rounds.
Maintain a positive, patient-centered approach and approachable behavior, and act as a resource to others.
