About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to critically ill patients at a critical illness recovery hospital, supporting patients who need extended healing and recovery following intensive care. The role includes assessing patients, recommending treatment plans, delivering respiratory care for complex medical and surgical conditions, and supporting patients and their families through teaching and counseling. The position is per diem/PRN in Lake Worth, Florida, with a day schedule. Compensation is $42 per hour, with shift differentials for night and/or weekend shifts. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is offered. The employer provides an extensive orientation program and notes that demonstrated skills and dedication may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) eligibility after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript/diploma (preferred), or high school transcript/diploma or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
