About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to patients receiving both critical and general care. The role involves managing ventilators, performing and assisting with respiratory procedures, delivering prescribed therapies, monitoring equipment, educating patients and families, and maintaining infection-control and safety standards. The therapist collaborates with the care team and brings clinical judgment, clear communication, and a compassionate, patient-first approach to patient care. The position is listed for the day shift at East Jefferson General Hospital, part of LCMC Health.

Requirements

Licensed Respiratory Therapist through the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC).
Current BLS/CPR certification from the AHA.
ACLS certification.
PALS certification.
Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize in fast-paced environments.
Compassionate, patient-first mindset.
Ability to work as a team and communicate clearly and confidently.

Responsibilities

Manage ventilators and adjust settings based on patient needs.
Perform arterial punctures and assist with airway management.
Support high-acuity situations, including Code III responses.
Assist with bronchoscopies and intubations.
Deliver respiratory therapies, including oxygen, aerosol, CPT, IPPB, and incentive spirometry.
Monitor respiratory equipment and ensure its safe, effective operation.
Educate patients and families.
Maintain infection-control and safety standards.
Collaborate with the care team.
