About The Position
The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides critical and general respiratory care, combining clinical skill and compassionate support to help patients and families. The role includes managing ventilators, assisting with airway procedures and high-acuity responses, delivering respiratory therapies, monitoring equipment, providing education, and collaborating with the care team. The position is a night shift role at West Jefferson Medical Center.
Requirements
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist through the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credential through NBRC.
- Current BLS/CPR certification from AHA.
- ACLS certification.
- PALS certification.
- Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize in fast-paced environments.
- Compassionate, patient-first mindset.
- Clear and confident communication and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Manage ventilators and adjust settings based on patient needs.
- Perform arterial punctures and assist with airway management.
- Support high-acuity situations, including Code III responses.
- Assist with bronchoscopies and intubations.
- Deliver oxygen, aerosol, CPT, IPPB, incentive spirometry, and other therapies.
- Monitor respiratory equipment and ensure its safe, effective operation.
- Educate patients and families.
- Maintain infection control and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the care team.
