About The Position

Performs routine respiratory care procedures independently in acute care, critical care, and outpatient settings. Conducts respiratory care assessments and diagnostic testing procedures. The role includes initiating and maintaining mechanical ventilation and educating students in affiliated clinical training programs, as well as patients and families. The position requires a Tennessee Registered Respiratory Therapist license and graduation from an approved discipline-specific program, with one year of relevant work experience. This role is part of Vanderbilt Health’s Pulmonary Lab Staff organization. It calls for technical proficiency in ventilator management, respiratory therapeutic procedures, and laboratory testing and analysis. The therapist works with occasional guidance, analyzes moderately complex problems using technical experience and judgment, and provides informal guidance and support to team members.

Requirements

Tennessee Registered Respiratory Therapist license.
Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
One year of relevant work experience.
Fundamental proficiency in ventilator management and respiratory therapeutic procedures.
Knowledge of primary laboratory tests required by the department and ability to interpret results under general supervision.
