About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides essential life-support and respiratory care primarily to critical care patients in the Intensive Care Units. The role includes invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures that support patient outcomes and care delivery. The therapist works with physicians, patients, and families during critical moments and maintains clinical expertise across Henry Ford Health business units.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
• Associate of Science degree, minimum.
• Registration with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan; new graduates have 90 days to obtain it.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Two years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience in a tertiary hospital.

Responsibilities

• Deliver life-support, resuscitation, and medical gases therapy to critical care patients.
• Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for Intensive Care and General Practice Units patients.
• Maintain clinical expertise across various business units within HFHS.
• Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and physicians regarding patient care needs.
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately and completely.
• Supervise, direct, and delegate tasks to respiratory orienteers, externs, and students.
