Respiratory Student Equipment Tech Per Diem

About The Position

Mount Sinai Medical Center is hiring a per diem Respiratory Student Equipment Tech. The role supports Respiratory and patient-care teams by monitoring respiratory equipment and supply levels, maintaining medical gas cylinders and storage areas, and helping ensure equipment and supplies are available, clean, and properly secured. The technician also assists with medical gas shutoffs and employee education, and reports storage, maintenance, safety, or compliance concerns to the Respiratory Director.

Requirements

Be enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year Respiratory Care program.

Responsibilities

Monitor equipment levels in Respiratory storage areas to help ensure timely availability for clinical staff.
Monitor supplies and maintain appropriate par levels for clinical staff.
Monitor medical gas cylinder levels in Respiratory storage areas.
Conduct cylinder rounds throughout the Medical Center and assist patient-care units with proper cylinder storage, signage, and securing.
Ensure medical gas cylinders in the main facility are properly secured.
Ensure ventilator reprocessing areas are stocked and clean.
Ensure satellite storage areas have appropriate par levels for Respiratory Therapy equipment.
Ensure areas outside the Respiratory Department have appropriate supply levels.
Assist Project Managers and Respiratory Therapy personnel with medical gas shutoffs as required.
Assist with educating Medical Center employees on proper procurement, securing, and storage of medical gases.
Notify the Respiratory Director of irregularities or safety or compliance concerns related to medical gas storage and maintenance.
Perform other related duties as needed.
