About The Position

The Respiratory Student Equipment Tech monitors equipment and supply levels in respiratory storage areas, medical gas storage areas, and satellite storage areas to help ensure appropriate availability for clinical staff and patient care units. The role also supports safe storage and handling of medical gas cylinders, maintains ventilator re-processing areas, assists with medical gas shutoffs and employee education, and reports storage, maintenance, safety, or compliance concerns to the Respiratory Director. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

Be enrolled in a 2- or 4-year accredited Respiratory Care Program.

Responsibilities

Monitor equipment levels in Respiratory Storage areas to ensure timely availability for frontline clinical staff.
Monitor supplies and maintain appropriate par levels for frontline clinical staff.
Monitor cylinder levels in the Respiratory Medical Gas storage area to maintain appropriate par levels.
Conduct cylinder rounds throughout the Medical Center to assist patient care units with proper cylinder storage, signage, and securing.
Ensure all medical gas cylinders in the main facility are properly secured.
Ensure ventilator re-processing areas are stocked and clean.
Ensure satellite storage areas have appropriate par levels for respiratory therapy equipment.
Ensure areas outside the Respiratory Department have appropriate supply levels.
Assist Project Managers and respiratory therapy personnel with medical gas shutoffs as required.
Assist with educating Medical Center employees on proper procurement, securing, and storage of medical gases.
Notify the Respiratory Director of irregularities or safety or compliance concerns related to medical gas storage and maintenance.
Perform other related duties as needed.
