About The Position

West Anaheim Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, is a 219-bed acute-care hospital founded in 1964. The Respiratory Care Practitioner II performs respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by a provider, under the direction and authorization of the medical director and cardiopulmonary director or manager. The role emphasizes assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting patient care while considering age- and population-specific needs. The practitioner may occasionally be assigned as Lead RCP, with responsibility for the section or department during their shift.

Requirements

Current state Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), or obtain it within three months of hire.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain it.
Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA or ARC upon hire and maintain it.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the AHA upon hire and maintain it, or obtain it within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate.
Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree.
Two years of acute-care experience.

Responsibilities

Perform respiratory therapeutic procedures as ordered by the ordering provider.
Perform pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the ordering provider.
Assess, plan, implement, and document care, considering age- and population-specific patient needs and requirements.
May serve as Lead RCP and take responsibility for the section or department during the shift.
