About The Position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for treating, caring for, and managing patients with cardiorespiratory deficiencies or abnormalities. The role serves as a clinical resource across patient care areas and contributes to the overall quality of care. This is a per diem, part-time, onsite position at Virtua Health’s Egg Harbor location, working the first shift.

Requirements

Graduate of an AMA-approved program of study in Respiratory Care and have a high school diploma.
Registered or registry eligible as a Respiratory Therapist, as determined by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Hold a BLS credential.
Hold an ACLS credential or obtain ACLS within six months of hire.
Hold a New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
RRT new graduates are accepted. CRTs must have 10 years of experience, or, if they have less than 10 years of experience, earn their RRT credential within one year.

Responsibilities

Perform patient assessments and develop individualized respiratory care plans.
Administer treatments and medications as prescribed by physicians.
Demonstrate competency in invasive and non-invasive ventilator care.
Demonstrate competency in the Blood Gas Laboratory and/or laboratory procedures related to blood gases, depending on location.
Educate patients and families about medications, disease processes, treatments, and wellness strategies.
Set up, operate, and maintain medical gas delivery and airway humidification systems.
Document patient care activities using computer information management systems.
