About The Position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner Per Diem performs diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures suited to patients’ growth and development across the life cycle. The practitioner initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation and responds to emergent patient care needs. Practitioners assigned regularly to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit must obtain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

Requirements

Graduate of an AMA-approved one-year Respiratory Therapy program.
Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of New Jersey Board of Respiratory Care.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
Demonstrated competency in procedures within the scope of practice appropriate to the ages of patients served.
Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs.
Knowledge of growth and development and understanding of the range of treatment needed by patients.
BLS certification approved by the American Heart Association.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification obtained within 30 days of the start date.
For practitioners regularly assigned to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, NRP certification is required.

Perform diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures appropriate to patients’ ages and stages of growth and development.
Initiate and maintain mechanical ventilation.
Respond to emergent patient care needs.
Demonstrate competency in care and treatment for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
