About The Position

CompuNet is seeking a Resource Specialist to deliver engineering workforce planning and resource management practices. As the first role of its kind at CompuNet, this position partners with leadership to provide visibility into capacity, demand, utilization, technical capabilities, and workforce readiness. Through data-driven planning and analysis, the Resource Specialist enables informed decisions related to staffing, hiring, training, and resource investments that support customer delivery and business growth. This role provides planning, forecasting, governance, and recommendations but does not directly manage engineering personnel, customer project schedules, or day-to-day work assignments. Resource assignment decisions remain with Engineering Leadership.

Requirements

  • You are a highly organized and analytical professional who enjoys bringing structure to complex environments and helping teams operate more effectively. You excel at managing competing priorities, collaborating across stakeholder groups, and using data to support resource and workforce planning decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years resource planning/workforce planning experience.
  • 5+ years total experience in operations, engineering, PMO, professional services, or workforce management.
  • Experience supporting technical teams in a consulting, managed services, systems integrator, VAR, or technology organization.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, sales, project management, service delivery, and leadership teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Lists, Power BI, and Dynamics or similar business systems.
  • Working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, or similar frameworks.
  • Ability to learn and understand technical concepts and terminology to effectively support technical teams.
  • High attention to detail, professionalism, discretion, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting engineering, cloud, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, managed services, or professional services organizations.
  • Knowledge of workforce planning, capacity management, utilization management, and professional services operations.
  • Experience with PSA, ERP, project management, scheduling, or workforce planning platforms.
  • Experience developing workforce planning processes, dashboards, metrics, forecasting models, and executive reporting.
  • Resource Management Certified Professional (RMCP)
  • ITIL Foundation
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt
  • Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)

Responsibilities

  • Align customer opportunities, projects, and service engagements with the appropriate engineering resources based on technical expertise, skills, experience, location, and business priorities.
  • Maintain visibility into engineer availability, assignments, project demands, pipeline opportunities, and competing priorities.
  • Monitor upcoming work and identify potential resource constraints, scheduling conflicts, capacity gaps, and delivery risks.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership on workload balancing, resource prioritization, and workforce allocation decisions.
  • Serve as a central point of coordination between engineering teams and business stakeholders regarding resource planning and assignments.
  • Analyze sales pipeline, project forecasts, managed services demand, and strategic initiatives to identify future resource requirements and capacity trends.
  • Monitor utilization, workforce constraints, competing priorities, and capacity risks across engineering teams.
  • Identify skill gaps, workforce shortages, and emerging resource needs, providing recommendations related to hiring, upskilling, and workforce planning.
  • Maintain visibility into engineer skills, certifications, technical expertise, and capability readiness in partnership with Program Compliance and Engineering Leadership.
  • Support workforce development initiatives including cross-training, mentorship programs, succession planning, certification readiness, and career development efforts.
  • Identify emerging technology, service delivery, and workforce trends to support future capability development and staffing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain resource management processes, reporting, documentation, and organizational tools that improve visibility, forecasting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights related to resource capacity, demand, utilization, workforce readiness, and resource planning activities.
  • Proactively communicate resource risks, workforce constraints, assignment changes, and planning considerations to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements that enhance resource management practices and operational effectiveness.
  • Support Engineering Leadership with planning, reporting, analysis, and special initiatives as needed.
  • Support engineering team readiness by coordinating training opportunities, certification initiatives, technical labs, knowledge-sharing programs, and professional development activities.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination related to engineering meetings, workforce initiatives, team events, and organizational programs.
  • Participate in customer, partner, and internal meetings to understand business priorities, resource requirements, and operational needs.
