This non-federal, temporary ACES enrollee opportunity provides direct technical support to farmers and landowners in Oklahoma through a partnership agreement funded by USDA-NRCS and administered by NEW Solutions. The role supports conservation planning, implementation of conservation practices, and technical assistance, helping field offices provide timely assistance to producers. It is not a federal position and does not replace federal staff. The position focuses on soil science support, including Highly Erodible Land Conservation (HELC) determinations, Natural Resources Inventory–Local Data Survey Instrument (NRI-LDSI) work, field technical visits, employee training, educational events, and ArcPro refresher or updates training as needed. On-the-job training may be provided as needed on ArcPro or other applications. Travel may include site visits, field investigations, educational program delivery, soil investigations, soil survey project assistance, and correlation activities. Situational and seasonal overnight stays of three to four nights per month may be required for specific events or work projects. Underground utility clearances must be coordinated as needed for soil investigations; the State Soil Scientist will provide training on this process as needed. Required safety gear includes hardhat safety equipment meeting OSHA guidelines for soil trench entry and egress. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
