About The Position

Raleigh General Hospital is hiring a Resource Registered Nurse for its Emergency Services team. The Emergency Department is a rural, 20-bed unit that provides patient-centered care in a supportive, team-oriented environment and offers self-scheduling. The Resource RN serves as a clinical resource for staff, patients, and families; coordinates care with other departments; assists physicians; and provides direct care and support through transfer or stabilization. The nurse also attends emergency alerts and activations, mentors nursing staff, and assists with low-volume, high-risk procedures.

Requirements

• Current state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Associate degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire.
• Three years of experience in a critical care setting (ICU or ED).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in nursing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource for staff members, patients, and families to help assure optimum quality patient care.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments and assist the physician.
• Use advanced assessment skills and take appropriate action after identifying patient needs.
• Assist with direct patient care until the patient is transferred to the appropriate level of care or is hemodynamically stable.
• Facilitate transfer to a higher level of care when indicated.
• Provide support to staff, patients, and patients' families.
• Attend all Sepsis alerts, STEMI alerts, Stroke alerts, Trauma activations, and Code Blues.
• Mentor nursing staff.
• Assist with low-volume, high-risk procedures.
• Demonstrate ongoing professional and personal development.
