The Resource Nurse is accountable for helping in the greatest area of need during a given shift in the facility's acute care settings while providing individualized, efficient and effective management and delivery of nursing care to all patients. This role involves demonstrating critical thinking, identifying and responding to changes in clinical condition, and collaborating with the care team. The Resource Nurse also plays a role in patient education, participates in learning experiences, and takes ownership of professional development. They ensure safe medication administration, participate in quality improvement practices, and interact professionally with providers to coordinate care. Additionally, this role ensures readiness for emergency situations, participates in the trauma program, and may serve as an IT resource for EHR modules. The Resource Nurse also provides break support to acute care departments and assists staff in Long Term Care with technical/clinical skills as needed. Participation in facility DECON and Emergency Preparedness programs is also required.
