About The Position

This position is for a Residuals Truck Driver on the day shift (11 am - 7 pm) at Columbia Forest Products, North America’s largest manufacturer of hardwood plywood and hardwood veneer products. The role involves operating a truck and loader to manage wood chips and other residual products, ensuring smooth system flow, and transporting products to customer locations. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CDL required
  • Loader License or Loader Training
  • Ability to operate different equipment and machinery
  • Ability to plan and perform multi-sequence operations
  • Ability to withstand long periods of sitting in a loader and the jarring of heavy equipment
  • Constant attention to activities of the job as well as the people and activities around the operator
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Potential of having to move 300 lbs. logs
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that includes moving machinery, fast paced forklift traffic, machine noise, and a work environment that will vary depending on the time of the year
  • Must be able to use personal safety equipment
  • Must wear a hard hat and safety vest while out on the log yard
  • NIOSH-approved steel-toed boots are required
  • Eye protection is required while blowing off the radiator

Responsibilities

  • Load out ship/dry fines trailers within weight spec
  • Keep flow of wood chips flowing through system clearing system of any jam ups
  • Work with contract trucking to ensure safe and accurate loading needs are met
  • Cross train and help in all areas deemed needed by residuals manager
  • Transport product to customer locations as needed via tractor and trailer
  • Perform TPMs (Total Productive Maintenance) tasks, which may include mandatory overtime
  • Notify Team Leads or Process Leads if standard work cannot be followed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Be watchful of constant traffic in the log yard
  • Use care with air hoses while cleaning out the radiator to prevent eye injury
  • Use flammable motor oils and diesel fuel safely
  • Climb into equipment for maintenance purposes, ensuring equipment is turned off and locked out
  • Pay attention to the quality of bark and ground product to prevent metal or trash contamination
  • Work in various jobs including rotating to different job duties such as machine operators, handling material, grading material, quality checks, and clean up
  • Follow written and verbal job instructions
  • Provide feedback and apply critical thinking
  • Use personal safety equipment
