Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and one of the following: One (1) year of successful experience in the human services field; OR One (1) year of successful experience in a lead or supervisory role within a residential treatment setting; OR Two (2) years/60 credits of social services education may substitute for required experience.
  • Must possess an active Department of Health (DOH) credential applicable to the assigned program, or obtain required credentialing within ninety (90) days of hire, unless otherwise approved by the organization due to regulatory processing delays.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required agency trainings and certifications.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Employees who operate their own or PHS vehicles on PHS business, must have a safe driving record as defined by PHS.
  • Employees who operate their own vehicle(s) on PHS business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of PHS.
  • Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Health, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working in residential treatment, detoxification, behavioral health, or substance use disorder treatment settings preferred.
  • Previous supervisory, team lead, or staff training experience preferred.
  • Experience with behavioral health documentation systems and residential operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents daily shift activities in accordance with program policies, contractual requirements, licensing standards, and professional expectations.
  • Supervises and monitors resident movement, activities, and compliance with program rules while maintaining appropriate auditory and visual supervision.
  • Maintains accountability for the whereabouts and safety of residents during assigned shifts.
  • Assesses and responds appropriately to resident behaviors, attitudes, emotional presentations, and crisis situations.
  • Conducts contraband control, room searches, and confiscation procedures in accordance with program policies and safety standards.
  • Provides services in the least restrictive and most trauma-informed manner appropriate to the situation.
  • Assists residents in meeting health, hygiene, wellness, and daily living needs.
  • Supports residents in developing social, recovery, coping, and independent living skills.
  • Assists with meal preparation, meal service, and monitoring of food service activities in accordance with program requirements.
  • Assists residents with self-administration of medications in accordance with program procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Observes residents for behaviors, symptoms, or demeanor changes that may indicate safety, behavioral health, or medical concerns.
  • Transports residents to approved appointments and activities in accordance with agency policies and approved driver requirements.
  • Conducts facility, grounds, and safety checks to ensure a clean, safe, and secure residential environment.
  • Assess, evaluate, and report internal and external facility conditions related to safety, sanitation, maintenance, and security concerns.
  • Ensures compliance with all health, hygiene, safety, infection control, and maintenance standards.
  • Promotes and maintains a healthy, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented residential environment.
  • Requests maintenance, cleaning, and household supplies in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensures staff complete assigned sanitation and housekeeping responsibilities during each shift.
  • Responds appropriately to emergencies, behavioral incidents, and crisis situations in accordance with agency policy and de-escalation practices.
  • Ability to verbally de-escalate residents, visitors, and staff while maintaining professionalism and safety.
  • Provides direct supervision, support, coaching, and guidance to Residential Treatment Specialist staff.
  • Conducts staff orientation, training, mentoring, scheduling, and ongoing performance support.
  • Participates in employee selection, onboarding, evaluation, corrective action, and disciplinary processes in collaboration with program leadership.
  • Maintains staff supervision documentation, evaluations, and required personnel records.
  • Monitors staff compliance with required trainings, certifications, and program expectations.
  • Provides shift-to-shift communication regarding unit conditions, resident concerns, safety issues, and operational updates.
  • Models professionalism, sound judgment, teamwork, and recovery-oriented practices in all interactions.
  • Maintains availability to staff for operational support, guidance, and crisis response during assigned shifts.
  • Promotes teamwork, accountability, and collaboration among multidisciplinary staff.
  • Coordinates intake, admission, orientation, discharge, and transition procedures for residents.
  • Assist in monitoring medication storage, documentation, and medication support activities in accordance with agency procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Delegates and/or performs operational tasks necessary to maintain efficient program operations.
  • Ensures facility operations remain compliant with organizational policies, licensing standards, contractual requirements, and applicable WAC/RCW regulations.
  • Prepares informational, incident, infraction, and shift reports as required.
  • Assists with volunteers, visitors, inspectors, auditors, and community partners visiting the facility.
  • Participates in quality assurance activities, audits, program reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supports operational consistency and adherence to behavioral health and residential treatment best practices.
