About The Position

Apple Valley Waste is hiring a Residential Driver to support its waste management and recycling operations. The role involves driving a rear-load garbage truck on assigned routes and collecting solid waste in residential neighborhoods, construction sites, and other assigned areas. Drivers use hydraulic hand controls to collect and dump waste, navigate routes using route sheets, and conduct basic truck inspections to ensure the vehicle is ready and safe for service. The position requires physical work, including lifting and climbing in and out of the truck. It is a full-time, year-round position, typically scheduled Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work as needed. Drivers are typically home every evening.

Requirements

Hold a valid Class A or Class B CDL and a current, valid DOT medical certificate.
Be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Be able to climb in and out of the truck throughout the shift.
Have the ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the truck and its components.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a rear-load garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste in residential neighborhoods, construction sites, and other assigned areas.
Read route sheets and service each customer on the assigned route as directed by the dispatcher.
Operate lever hand controls for hydraulic machinery to collect and dump waste.
Conduct basic pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck components to ensure the vehicle is safe and ready for the route.
Lift objects and climb in and out of the truck throughout the shift.
