About The Position

Midwest Center for Youth and Families, a subsidiary of UHS, has been providing psychiatric treatment for youth with various mental health issues since 1997. It is a 74-bed private, residential treatment facility located in Valparaiso and Kouts, Indiana, specializing in a full-immersion Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program for children and adolescents aged 10-18 who struggle with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. The facility is dedicated to compassionate care and superior quality behavioral healthcare services. The Residential Therapist is responsible for obtaining social history information, acting as a liaison with patient families and referral sources, providing direct psychotherapy in individual, family, and group settings, and assisting with utilization review with third-party payors.

Requirements

Master's degree in social work, psychology or counseling required.
Prefer one year of experience working in a psychiatric setting with patients aged 10-18yrs.
Must have working knowledge of DBT.
LCSW, LMFT, LMFT-A, LMHC, LMHC-A, or LSW license in the state of Indiana required or license eligible.
Must complete DBT skills training certification course within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Obtaining social history information to familiarize clinical staff and physicians with the patient and any past/present problems.
Acting as liaison with the patient’s family or support system and referral sources.
Providing direct psychotherapy to patients in individual, family, and group settings.
Assisting with utilization review with third party payor sources.
