About The Position

CMHA-CEI is seeking a Residential Technician to assist in the personal care and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness residing in a residential setting or supported independent living setting. The candidate will be responsible for implementing skill acquisition, understanding the stages of change and substance use disorders as it relates to each individual’s plan of service, with a goal of assisting individuals to be as independent as possible. This role also acts as a resource and referral for residents to meet their needs.

Requirements

  • Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must receive and maintain certification in Department of Community Health Group Home Skill Training
  • Must be able to understand written instructions
  • Ability to accurately and effectively communicate both in writing and verbally
  • Must be able to read and follow medication charts
  • Must be physically able to do lifting and transferring of physically impaired consumers according to approved agency policies/procedures
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license
  • Access to reliable transportation for job related use
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam annually

Responsibilities

  • Support mental illness symptoms management
  • Training and assisting residents in daily living skills such as medication management, personal care, interpersonal communication skills, cleaning, meal preparation and laundry
  • De-escalation skills
  • Maintaining required documentation
  • Assisting residents in participation in community activities
  • Attending mandatory team meetings and in-service training sessions
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed (Therapeutic Options A & Therapeutic Option B on an Emergency basis)
  • Lifting and transferring of physically impaired consumers according to approved agency policies/procedures
