Residential Support Staff - PART-TIME
About The Position
Residential Support Staff serve as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in group homes in Lexington and Buena Vista, Virginia. The role provides hands-on support to adults with developmental disabilities, helping them with daily living activities and encouraging independence. Staff engage residents in recreational activities and community outings, complete daily documentation, follow care plans, and administer medications as needed after receiving training. Rockbridge Area Community Services (RACS) provides behavioral health, substance use, and developmental services in Rockbridge and Bath counties and the cities of Lexington and Buena Vista. The organization has served the area since 1982 and describes its work as supporting whole-health wellness through a range of services. All applicants are subject to a background investigation. Newly hired, rehired, transferred, promoted, or demoted employees must complete a six-month probationary period. Requirements
- High school graduate or GED preferred.
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities required.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Energetic, positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable problem solver.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
Nice To Haves
- CNA experience is desired but not required.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, meals, and light housekeeping.
- Encourage and support individuals in living as independently as possible.
- Engage residents in recreational activities and community outings.
- Complete daily documentation and ensure compliance with care plans.
- Administer medications as needed; training is provided.
