RESIDENTIAL SPECIALIST
About The Position
Supportive Concepts for Families, Inc. is hiring Residential Specialists at multiple locations in Harrisburg/Dauphin County. The role provides direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting, helping them pursue independence and personal goals while promoting dignity, respect, inclusion, and person-centered care. Paid training is provided. The position is available full-time or part-time, pays $19.50, and full-time employment is eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Flexible scheduling is based on programmatic needs; evening, weekend, holiday, and overnight hours may be required. Employment for this position is administered through Apis Services, Inc. Supportive Concepts for Families, Inc. is part of the Inperium family of companies.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
- Previous experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and behavioral health needs.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
- Ability to successfully complete all required training programs.
- Ability to pass criminal record history clearances, FBI screening, physical examination, and drug screening.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist individuals as needed.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding when necessary.
- Support daily living skills and independence.
- Help individuals participate in community activities, appointments, and social events.
- Provide companionship, encouragement, and emotional support.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment.
- Follow individualized support plans and goals.
- Promote dignity, respect, and person-centered care.
