About The Position

Diversified Treatment Alternative Centers (DTAC) is seeking an experienced and dedicated Residential Behavioral Health Shift Supervisor to oversee residential operations during assigned shifts within our adolescent behavioral health treatment program. This position provides direct supervision and leadership to Residential Behavioral Health Technicians (RBHTs) while ensuring the safety, security, structure, and therapeutic integrity of the residential environment. The Shift Supervisor serves as the primary point of leadership during assigned hours and is responsible for supporting youth, supervising staff, coordinating programming, responding to crises, and ensuring compliance with agency standards.

Requirements

  • Must successfully complete and maintain Safe Crisis Management (SCM) certification and all required agency trainings.
  • Must be able to safely perform approved crisis intervention and physical intervention techniques when necessary for the protection of clients and staff.
  • Must be able to actively respond to behavioral crises and emergency situations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift, and physically engage in residential programming and crisis response activities throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field and at least one year of childcare experience; OR Associate degree/60 college credits and at least three years of childcare or related experience; OR Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience as permitted by agency requirements.
  • Minimum two years of experience working with adolescents in residential treatment, behavioral health, juvenile justice, child welfare, or a related setting preferred.
  • Previous supervisory, leadership, or shift lead experience preferred.
  • Experience managing behavioral crises and supporting staff in therapeutic environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of residential treatment operations and adolescent behavioral health services.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and behavior management techniques.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and staff coaching skills.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and compliance awareness.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in emergency and high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain overall responsibility for the safety and welfare of clients, staff, visitors, and the facility during assigned shifts.
  • Supervise and provide leadership, coaching, and support to Residential Behavioral Health Technicians and direct care staff.
  • Ensure designated programming, treatment planning interventions, recreational activities, and daily routines are implemented consistently.
  • Maintain awareness of client and staff locations and ensure appropriate supervision at all times.
  • Ensure staff-to-client ratios are maintained and proactively address coverage needs throughout the shift.
  • Monitor staff interventions and ensure compliance with agency policies, regulations, and therapeutic treatment approaches.
  • Communicate significant client, staff, operational, and facility concerns to leadership in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with clinical, nursing, and leadership teams regarding client care needs and treatment implementation.
  • Ensure completion of accurate and timely documentation, including shift logs, incident reports, client records, and EMR documentation.
  • Conduct and document debriefings following serious incidents or crisis situations.
  • Provide leadership during behavioral emergencies and support appropriate crisis intervention practices.
  • Role model trauma-informed care, professionalism, and therapeutic engagement with clients and staff.
  • Participate in management meetings, staff meetings, training initiatives, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Assist with staff development, training, evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary processes as assigned.
  • Support transportation, recreational activities, and community-based programming as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by program leadership.
