About The Position

The Residential Service Technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains residential garage doors and opener systems. The role represents the company during customer service visits and is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, high-quality repairs that meet or exceed customer expectations. Technicians work at residential customer locations, drive to multiple job sites, and may respond to emergency or on-call requests on a rotating schedule, if applicable.

Requirements

• A minimum of 1–2 years of experience in garage door service.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking ability.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of residential garage door systems, openers, and safety devices.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work in outside weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to perform repetitive standing, lifting, reaching, bending, climbing, and kneeling, and to work on ladders at varying heights.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in mechanical trades.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with garage doors, openers, springs, cables, rollers, sensors, remotes, and control systems.
• Perform skilled repairs and routine maintenance on residential garage doors, openers, and associated hardware.
• Explain repair needs, product options, and service processes to homeowners; provide consultative product recommendations when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records of service and installation activities, including parts used, labor performed, and completion status.
• Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Maintain an appropriate, organized inventory of commonly used parts and tools in the company vehicle.
• Respond to emergency or on-call service requests on a rotating schedule, if applicable.
• Ensure work complies with company quality standards, manufacturer specifications, local building codes, and safety guidelines.
• Complete special assignments or other tasks assigned by a supervisor.
