About The Position

A growing residential real estate law practice is seeking a Residential Real Estate Associate Attorney to join its Charlotte, NC team. This is a high-volume, client-focused opportunity for an attorney with residential real estate experience who is looking to continue developing their practice while handling a broad range of residential real estate transactions. While the position is based in Charlotte, approximately 95% of the work involves South Carolina residential real estate transactions. The attorney will work alongside a broader team of closing and pre-closing professionals and will be supported by a supervising attorney while maintaining significant responsibility for their own transactions and legal decision-making. The ideal candidate is responsive, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced closing environment. Strong legal judgment, communication, and follow-through are essential.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in South Carolina and good standing with the State Bar.
  • Experience conducting residential real estate closings and reviewing title matters.
  • Strong legal judgment and the ability to make sound decisions regarding title and transactional issues.
  • Ability to work independently while appropriately utilizing guidance from a supervising attorney.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly responsive and proactive approach to client and internal communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions and competing priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong follow-through and ownership of assigned transactions.
  • Client-service mindset and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to move quickly and effectively when handling time-sensitive real estate transactions.
  • Notary Public appointment or willingness to obtain one prior to starting.

Nice To Haves

  • North Carolina licensure is preferred but not required.
  • Approximately 2–3 years of residential real estate law experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct approximately 4–5 residential real estate closings per day, with transaction volume potentially reaching 100 closings per month.
  • Handle residential real estate transactions involving buyers, sellers, lenders, builders, investors, and other parties.
  • Review closing documents, title searches, title commitments, and related transaction materials for legal sufficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify and address title issues, curative matters, and other legal issues that arise during the transaction.
  • Apply sound legal judgment when evaluating and resolving title and transactional matters.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with clients, Realtors®, lenders, title professionals, and internal team members throughout the closing process.
  • Explain legal documents, closing procedures, and transaction requirements to clients and other parties.
  • Provide practical legal guidance throughout the closing process.
  • Work efficiently within a high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and a strong client experience.
  • Collaborate with closing and pre-closing teams to ensure files are prepared and transactions move forward efficiently.
  • Escalate complex legal or transactional matters appropriately while taking ownership of day-to-day issues and decisions.
  • Maintain timely follow-through on client questions, title issues, documentation, and other transaction requirements.
