Residential Program Worker - Part Time (Local Government)
About The Position
Located in Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Behavioral Health & Intellectual Disabilities agency is looking for a part time Residential Program Worker. This career is where you can make an impact. You will be part of a caring team that supports consumers on their journey toward recovery. This position supports individuals as they return to the community or work to avoid hospitalization by helping them build confidence and independent living skills. Workers in this capacity will work on shifts to assure 24-hour availability in a small facility in which a limited number of seriously mentally ill (SMI) consumers reside, each in their own apartment.
Requirements
- Six months of experience as a Residential Program Trainee; or One year of experience in a Human Services Agency working with the mentally disabled, the elderly, or children and youth; or Two years of college which includes courses appropriate to the Human Services field; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
Responsibilities
- Teach safety procedures inside the consumer's residence
- Share observations with the supervisor and team members as appropriate
- Record behaviors and progress in a clear and timely manner
- Transport consumers to appointments when needed using a county vehicle
- Work closely with consumers in their home environment to support daily living
