About The Position

The Special Commitment Center (SCC), part of Washington State Department of Social & Health Services (DSHS) Behavioral Health Administration (BHHA), is seeking a Residential Program Director - High Acuity to join our team. Our High Acuity program is for residents who have developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. In this role you will be responsible for directing, managing, leading and supervising the milieu staff and services component of SCC's High Acuity program. You will also be responsible to assume all leadership activities in the management of the high acuity habilitative milieu concerning staffing and residential issues. SCC employees receive an additional $10 per day premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and a free Orca card for transportation use. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of working with residents with a mental and physical disability or psychological impairment in an institutional setting
  • Demonstrated competency in relating to clients from diverse backgrounds and cultural groups
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management, peers, clients and the public
  • Experience working with confined populations
  • Advanced knowledge of the treatment of sex offenders in an institutional setting
  • Knowledge of the principles of management, including staff development and training
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Social Sciences, or in an allied field AND three years of professional experience in casework, counseling, probation and parole, social services, planning, directing and/or supervisory or managerial experience.
  • OR A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Social Sciences, or in an allied field AND three years of professional experience in casework, counseling, probation and parole, social services, planning, directing and/or supervisory or managerial experience AND five years of experience as a supervisor or manager.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, organize, and control the work performed by the staff
  • Establish a daily schedule / routine for the milieu
  • Assure appropriate and optimum use of the organization's resources
  • Work with external stakeholders
  • Organize on-unit treatment and engagement activities
  • Demonstrate effective management of critical and complex situations
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical and medical department
  • Communicate expectations
  • Ensure that all program standards are met and maintained
  • Respond to written correspondence from residence in a timely manner and meet with residence to address issues
  • Complete necessary work orders
  • Provide accurate, detailed, written documentation of reports
  • Identify barriers to treatment
  • Maintain the highest standard of personal, professional, and ethical conduct
  • Actively participate in the hiring process
  • Monitor attendance
