About The Position

The Residential Family Therapist & Care Coordinator is the primary clinical point person for an assigned caseload of residential children and their families. The role coordinates therapeutic care from admission through transition, reunification, discharge, and aftercare, and provides individual and family therapy, clinical assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic care coordination, clinical crisis assessment when indicated, and interdisciplinary consultation within the residential program. The position works from a family-centered perspective, collaborating with children, families, house parents, Programs Assistants, Education, Equine, Agriculture, Workforce Development, medical and psychiatric providers, and Intake and Family Care. Regular afternoon and evening availability supports clinical services, family engagement, and integration of treatment into children’s daily lives; periodic mornings may be needed. The role participates in a rotating clinical on-call schedule for mental-health and safety concerns. The Clinical Director supervises the position and leads its formal performance evaluation, including oversight of clinical competency, treatment planning, documentation, risk assessment, and supervision required for staff practicing under Florida registered-intern status. The Director of Programs sets residential scheduling, program-integration, and interdisciplinary expectations and provides input to the Clinical Director regarding the therapist’s effectiveness in the residential environment. Seamark Ranch is a Christ-centered organization. The employee must be comfortable with Christian faith and values being integrated into daily operations and care, support the organization’s mission, and model integrity, compassion, and healthy relationships. Employment is contingent on successful completion of required background screenings, drug testing, and applicable licensing or regulatory requirements. Responsibilities may change or be assigned based on organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or another qualifying mental-health discipline.
  • Florida licensure as an LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT, or active Florida registration as an RMHCI, RCSWI, or RMFTI with appropriate qualified supervision.
  • Experience providing counseling services to children and/or adolescents and their families.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and family systems.
  • Ability to conduct clinical assessment, develop treatment plans, provide psychotherapy, and maintain professional clinical documentation within scope of practice.
  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary residential environment while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Ability and willingness to work regular afternoon and evening hours and participate in the clinical on-call rotation.
  • Ability to meet Seamark Ranch employment, background-screening, training, and regulatory requirements.
  • Comfort working in an environment where Christian faith and values are integrated into daily operations and care, support for the organization’s mission, and ability to model integrity, compassion, and healthy relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in residential treatment, child welfare, foster care, adoption, or community mental health settings.
  • Experience providing family therapy and systemic interventions with children and families affected by trauma, attachment disruption, or family instability.
  • Training in trauma-focused, attachment-based, or other evidence-informed therapeutic approaches.
  • Experience conducting suicide or self-harm risk assessments.
  • Familiarity with electronic health-record systems, preferably TherapyNotes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary therapist for an assigned caseload of residential children, providing individual psychotherapy consistent with each child’s Individualized Care Plan while maintaining therapeutic rapport and professional boundaries.
  • Conduct and update clinical assessments of emotional, behavioral, relational, developmental, and family needs, and develop individualized goals and interventions with the child, family, Clinical Director, and interdisciplinary team.
  • Develop and maintain clinical portions of each child’s Individualized Care Plan, align treatment goals with the Restoration Journey, and prepare clinical updates for Restoration Meetings and treatment reviews.
  • Coordinate with psychiatric and medical providers regarding medication response, treatment progress, and continuity of care.
  • Provide family therapy at least twice monthly and develop an understanding of each family’s history, relational patterns, strengths, and barriers to progress.
  • Establish family-treatment goals promoting restoration, healthy communication, and reunification when appropriate; facilitate therapeutic parent-child conversations and parent coaching.
  • Prepare children and families for increased contact, home visits, and reunification, and communicate significant family-engagement concerns to the Clinical Director.
  • Review pre-admission clinical records and participate in admission consultation to identify clinical concerns, safety considerations, and treatment priorities.
  • Assess family readiness for reunification and develop therapeutic transition and aftercare recommendations, including appropriate community referrals.
  • Support continuity of care so discharge is treated as a transition in the Restoration Journey rather than an end to treatment.
  • Maintain meaningful clinical presence during afternoon and evening hours, consulting with house parents and Programs Assistants about children’s emotional, relational, and trauma-related needs from a trauma-informed, family-systems perspective.
  • Participate in Restoration Meetings, treatment-team meetings, and case reviews, collaborating with Programs leadership, Education, Equine, Agriculture, Workforce Development, Intake and Family Care, and medical and psychiatric providers.
  • Respond to mental-health and safety concerns requiring clinical assessment, including suicide, self-harm, and other clinical risk assessments within the therapist’s training and scope of practice; develop or update safety plans when indicated.
  • Participate in a rotating clinical on-call schedule to provide consultation when a child presents with a mental-health or safety concern, following Seamark’s Clinical Crisis Response Protocol.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in TherapyNotes and confidentiality consistent with HIPAA, Florida law, and mandatory-reporting requirements.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision and maintain required continuing education, registration, licensure, and professional credentials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
