About The Position

The Susan Wayne Center is seeking a Residential Director to effectively support the development and growth of young adults who have experienced significant emotional challenges. The Susan Wayne Center of Excellence (SWCE) and the River Run Academy offer intensive residential, educational, medical, and clinical services for adolescent boys and girls who are mild to moderately cognitively impaired with concurrent behavioral, mental health, and medical issues. Located in rural Thompson, Connecticut, our state-of-the-art campus offers warm, home-like facilities in a pastoral setting. Our students have often experienced complex trauma and often have not been successful in other settings. SWCE students typically require additional support in the classroom, as well as with emotional and behavioral difficulties, executive functioning, and life skills.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • 3-5 years in a Supervisor/Management role in a residential or mental health program required.
  • On call responsibilities, at times you will be required to work overtime.
  • Maintains valid driver’s license as transporting clients is required.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the Residential Department with the Senior Residential Department members and provide care and treatment of our clients.
  • Ensure all Residential systems are being followed and completed on a daily basis and provide on call coverage.
  • Provide constant oversight of scheduling procedures; staffing ratios are being met at all times and provide accountability and disciplinary action decisions as needed for all Residential Staff.
  • Lead residential meetings and trainings, and runs residential shifts when needed.
  • Provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our clients.
